Within a month of opening THE NEST Yarn shop, it became clear to me that I was not just selling yarn. Customers who took a beginning knitting class together became friends. We shared life events through the years and supported each other in triumphs and tragedies. Intimacies were shared and emotions aired while knitting away on a sweater or scarf. Many met for events outside the shop- graduations, funerals, birthdays, holidays. My customers became my friends. I found I had a lot more in common with these people than yarn and knitting. Two months ago I had the shocking diagnosis of breast cancer. The Tuesday Knitters were among the first to know when I returned to the shop stunned and unbelieving from my doctor's appointment. I've completed treatment and am one blessed and grateful woman! It's Thanksgiving! And it's my turn to thank all the wonderful angels in my life who have loved me, fed me, transported me, substituted for me, hugged me, nursed me, comforted me, cheered me, called me, prayed for me, and been there for me everyday and especially the last two months of my life. I have been so humbled by everyone's kindness. Happy Thanksgiving! Shower the people you love with love!
