I'm a 7th generation West Virginian (with a century of Virginian thrown in until 1863!). As many of us can confirm, I'm not alone in my love of my state. We all can share stories of meeting other West Virginians in interesting places all over the world. It's part of the uniqueness of being a West Virginian. For many years our best and brightest have had to leave West Virginia for opportunities to earn a living. Hopefully that has changed. One of the attributes of a faithful West Virginian is the wearing of our state colors - Blue and Gold! And so it follows that one of the attributes of being a West Virginia knitter is knitting in Blue and Gold.
The Nest has a lovely selection of projects and yarns in our favorite state's colors. One of my favorites is the Blue and Gold Sunflower Cowl.
Iris Schreier designed the cowl and also hand dyed the yarn in gorgeous blue and gold. The Nest also carries sock and DK in a variegated yarn exclusively designed and dyed by Claudia Hand Painted Yarns.
We even knit all kinds of things in Blue and Gold – poofs, babywear, scarves, socks (LOTS of SOCKS!).
And of course it follows that we wear a lot of Gold and Blue!
